Long, long ago there was a giant who had a

…great garden. Once the giant went away on a long journey, and the children

Spring came. Outside the giant's garden there were flowers everywhere

At that thought the giant at once took down the sign and pulled down the

…wall and said to the children, "Children, if you want to play, come in and

（hái孩zi子men们yí一gè个jiē接yí一gè个cóng从dòng洞lǐ里zuān钻jìn进huā花yuán园lǐ里。）

jù巨rén人：huā花yuán园lǐ里xiàn现zài在shén什me么dōu都méi没yǒu有，jiù就ràng让tā他men们jìn进lái来wán玩ér儿ba吧

（guò过le了yī一huì会er儿，jù巨rén人de的huā花yuán园lǐ里cǎo草yě也lǜ绿le了，huā花yě也kāi开le了。）

jù巨rén人：wǒ我míng明bái白le了，yīn因wèi为wǒ我zì自sī私，suǒ所yǐ以chūn春tiān天bù不yuàn愿yì意dào到wǒ我de的huā花yuán园lǐ里lái来。

wǒ我yào要chāi拆diào掉wéi围qiáng墙，zhāi摘diào掉pái牌zi子。（duì对zhe着hái孩zi子men们dà大shēng声shuō说）hái孩zi子men们，

…the day I went out the big tabby cat sprang at me and I fled in fright.

Black Mouse (looking round at them all): Then what are we to do?

huī灰lǎo老shǔ鼠：（huī挥wǔ舞zhe着quán拳tou头）wǒ我men们yì一qǐ起chōng冲chū出qù去，hěn狠hěn狠dì地dǎ打tā他yī一

Grey Mouse (shaking his fist): Let us all rush out together and give him a good

dùn顿，bǎ把tā他gǎn赶zǒu走，hǎo好bù不hǎo好？

…and drive him away, shall we?

hēi黑lǎo老shǔ鼠：（yáo摇yáo摇tóu头）bù不xíng行！wǒ我men们kěn肯dìng定dǎ打bù不guò过tā他de的！wǒ我dào倒yǒu有yī一

Black Mouse (shaking his head): No! We should certainly never beat him! But I have

Black Mouse (waving his hands): No! No!

…was frightened half to death by the tabby cat only yesterday, and my heart is still pounding
