Grammar Points:
1. Greeting: “Nǐ hǎo” is the most common greeting. 你 (nǐ) means “you”, and 好 (hǎo) means “good”.
2. Introduction: Use “我 是 + Name” to introduce yourself. 我 (wǒ) means “I”, 是 (shì) acts as the verb “to be” (am/is/are).

💡 Did you know?

In Chinese culture, a handshake is common when meeting for the first time, often accompanied by “Nǐ hǎo”. Unlike English, we don’t change the verb “shì” (is/am/are) regardless of the person—it’s always “shì”!

✍️ HOMEWORK 作业
  • Copy: Write “你”, “好”, “我”, “是” 10 times each in your notebook.
  • Speak: Record yourself saying: “Nǐ hǎo! Wǒ shì [Your Name]. Hěn gāoxìng rènshi nǐ!”
  • Review: Find a partner or use a mirror to practice the Day 1 dialogue.
